Ruthann Russo, PhD, DAc, MPH, DiplACLM, DiplAc, NBC-HWC, is core faculty in integrative health at California Institute of Integral Studies and practices as a licensed, board certified acupuncturist and lifestyle medicine clinician with Hackensack Meridian Health. Her research and work focus on equitably advancing health and wellbeing. She and her team are exploring the impact of integrative health practices in a group setting on patient and practitioner resilience, mindfulness and self-efficacy at federally qualified community health centers. She is the creator of SOHL, a self-care skills training program, available to the public. She designed and implemented the Senior Healthcare Executive Wellness and Self-Care study, a participatory action research project that became the basis for sustainable integrative self-care initiatives sponsored by health systems for their communities. In 2018 she delivered a TEDx talk entitled Your Vital Role in Re-imagining Healthcare. She has designed employee-driven wellness programs for Fortune 100 Companies. She earned a PhD in mind body medicine at Saybrook University, PhD in healthcare management at Touro University, JD in Healthcare Law at American University, Doctorate in Acupuncture at Pacific College of Health Sciences and master’s in public health at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Ruthann is a former attorney and founder of several health technology startups and was inspired to change her career path when her teenage daughter’s neurologist at NYU recommended adding integrative practices to the treatment plan that helped control her daughter's epileptic seizures.
