John R. (Jack) Jordan, PhD
John R. (Jack) Jordan, PhD, is the director of Family Loss Project (FLP), a research and clinical group providing bereavement services in the greater Boston area.
A licensed psychologist, Dr. Jordan provides training nationally for therapists, healthcare professionals, and clergy through the American Academy of Bereavement and AFSP. He has published clinical and research articles in the areas of bereavement after suicide, support group models, the integration of research, and practice into thanatology, and loss in family and larger social systems. He has also published in professional journals such as Omega, Death Studies, Suicide and Life Threatening Behavior, and Family Process. He is the co-author of After Suicide Loss: Coping with your Grief, a book for surviving friends and family. As a Fellow in Thanatology (Association for Death Education and Counseling), Dr. Jordan maintains an active practice in grief counseling and couples in Sherborn, MA.
Dr. Jordan is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, New England affiliate, and a past member of the association for Death Education and Counseling. He is also a member of the International Workgroup for Death, Dying and Bereavement.
Through FLP, Dr. Jordan is spearheading an innovative support program of suicide survivors. He is co-investigator on a research project assessing the problems, needs and support resources of people who have lost a loved one to suicide. He is also working on a research project to develop a new measure to help clinicians identify individuals at risk for complicated mourning.
