Laurie C. Dietzel, PhD
Laurie Dietzel, Ph.D., is a clinical neuropsychologist in private practice in Silver Spring, Maryland. She has expertise in the diagnosis of ADHD, LD, executive dysfunction and the developmental course of the executive functions. Dr. Dietzel works with parents, teachers, other professionals and students to promote the development of realistic expectations and reasonable supports for students with ADHD, LD, PDD, and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. The co-author of Late, Lost and Unprepared: A Parents' Guide to Helping Children with Executive Functioning, she has also published articles on executive functioning and presented at national conferences in the areas of learning disabilities, ADHD, and executive dysfunction.
Dr. Dietzel earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland at College Park and then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuropsychology at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. She has worked in day and residential schools for children and adolescents with ADHD, PDD, learning disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Dietzel served as director of Diagnostic Services at Kingsbury, a private nonprofit educational organization in Washington D.C., and has provided training for regular and special education teachers, psychologists, diagnosticians, and parents on a wide range of developmental and assessment topics.
