Machelle Cathey, MS, CCC-SLP
Machelle Cathey, MS, CCC-SLP, is a clinician who loves language and has long been fascinated by language acquisition; she strives to base her clinical practice on proven research. She has worked as a speech-language pathologist for the past eight years at a Children's Hospital, helping families of children who have autism spectrum disorders and a variety of other developmental disorders. As a former English teacher and as a speech-language pathologist, Ms. Cathey enjoys working with children on the autism spectrum, helping them to communicate and interact with others. She collaborates with a wide array of professionals and community agencies to provide coordinated care for children. She recently participated in a regional initiative to develop follow-up assessment protocol for children who fail initial autism screenings at primary care physician visits. She has provided speech-language assessments and intervention services to children in home, community and school settings. Additionally she has supervised clinical fellow and graduate student interns. She has given numerous presentations on autism and autism spectrum disorders as well as on topics relating to premature infants.
