Marie Frazzitta, DNP, FNP-C, PNP, CDE, MBA
Marie Frazzitta has been a certified diabetes educator for more than 15 years and is a clinical specialist for insulin pump therapy. The director of the Center for Diabetes and Pregnancy at North Shore University Hospital-NSLIJ Health System, a tertiary care facility, Marie shares her extensive experience in gestational diabetes through education programs for nursing staff and during community outreach programs. As a certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric nurse practitioner, Marie's specialty is working with the psychosocial aspects of diabetes and empowering patients to make healthier lifestyle choices. Additionally, she develops the diabetes policy, procedures and quality assurance projects for her center.
A member of the American Diabetes Association, Marie was the Certified Diabetes Educator Administrator of the Year of her local chapter. Additionally, she has been recognized by the Nursing Center of Excellence in Clinical Research and the Nursing Center of Excellence for Clinical Practice. She is the past president for the Metropolitan chapter of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and has also served on the board of the American Diabetes Association New York Chapter. Marie's articles on diabetes management and creating and sustaining a diabetes program have appeared in the American Journal of Nursing, Diabetes Educator and Diabetes Forecast. She is a frequent presenter and is very passionate about nursing and resident diabetes education. Marie easily combines evidence-based practice recommendations with beneficial examples from her real-life experience in an information-packed presentation.
