Kendra Calhoun
Kendra received her yoga certification in 2013 at Yandara Yoga Institute and has completed workshops with Lynne Minton, Sara Joy Marsh, and training in Trauma Sensitive Yoga with Jody Hassel. She is a Co-Founder and Assistant Director of Blossom House Healing Arts, which provides trauma-informed practices of yoga, mindfulness, applied theater, and music to isolated communities in Fairbanks. Kendra applies embodiment theory to her performance arts practices in applied theater and music for self-exploration and as treatment for trauma. She shares her enthusiasm for yoga and the arts in creating practices and strategies that are accessible and supportive to community. As an associate professor of Extension at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Kendra has spent the last 15 years implementing these skills in combination with her background in biology in her work with underrepresented youth and families throughout Alaska.
